God gives gifts for the gift-giver

God gives us gifts

Gifts for the gift-giver: How do you interact with other people during the day? You give time, you give gifts on special occasions or for no occasion at all, you do can to help someone who needs your help.

When you give yourself to the least, the lost, the hurting, the dying are interacting with Jesus. Feed the poor, provide shelter for the homeless, visit those in prison. Keep your eyes open to those who are in need. In the world we live in, this is not hard.

We can find someone to help every day. It may be something small, like holding the door open at the store when a shopper comes out laden with bags. It may be giving a ride to a person who has run out of gas. Perhaps you could visit a shut-in. Jesus says when we do these activities, we are really giving to him. That is part to walking with God. This is the upward dimension in action.

Gift-giving is a great way to strengthen a relationship. Give God a gift from your heart. Perhaps it will be a work of art you create just him. After all, he gives us gifts of art most every day-sunrises, sunsets, trees, mountains. Maybe you will dance a dance or sing a song you wrote for him. The scriptures are full of suggestions about giving gifts to God. We are to give him our best, not seconds or imperfections.

Give your time to God. You cannot have a deep, intimate relationship with someone if you do not spend time with that person. If you only give God a few minutes a day, may be a couple of hours on Sunday, how intimately will you know him? Gifts for the gift-giver. God bless you. Amen.
